Please give me a Bloodborne

Actually, it is a miracle that Bloodborne has become my absolute favorite game. Fluctuating 30 fps, edge worm, the usual frustration of the first soulslike that you play-the circumstances could hardly have been more adverse. And yet the mix of cosmic horror, great staged boss fights and damn cool weapons captivated me.

Despite my enthusiasm, I drawn the conclusion that Bloodborne would be significantly better off on a more powerful platform than the PS4. So my desire for a new edition for the PS5 or the PC has always been large, now even greater, since a YouTube video shows what you should expect from a real remaster.

We Don't NEED A Bloodborne Remake

4K, more color dynamics

The YouTube channel of Elanalist StageBits used a variety of techniques that make Bloodborne appear even darker and provide a much sharper picture. A AI-supported scaling was used on 8k, which was then calculated for the video to 4K, which ensures a huge plus in sharpness.

In contrast to previous attempts (via Digital Foundry), AI does not smooth out the architecture of the game and details in textures, which is why the stylistics of the setting is perfectly preserved.

more coherent lighting: The YouTube channel made some color adjustments to Bloodborne, which I personally like very much. In the original there is always a mushy filter above the picture, which I found annoying because it covered color highlights such as candlelight or snow.

In the video of Elanalistlebits, on the other hand, the saturation was turned strongly, which shows finer levels in dark areas and the cloudy veil disappears. In some areas, however, the game also gets a blue tinge.

I would like a similar approach to an official remaster, just with a more varied color palette and without the stitch into the blue. In addition, an HDR implementation that ensures strong illumination of the image content, and Bloodborne would shine in a completely new splendor.

edge smoothing

Bloodborne flickers. Even hell. Elanalist straps therefore used an edge smoothing procedure that was subsequently applied to the video material and achieved a considerable result. A real, modern technique for edge smoothing should get even more image sharpness out.

with 60 frames per second, Bloodborne becomes a new game

Hardly any game is as notorious for his fluctuating frame rate as Bloodborne. Probably also, since the game pace is properly high and the level of difficulty has a lot. In the video of Elanalistlebits it becomes clear how enormous the increase in speed in the case of 60 fps. The great animations are portrayed much more smoothly, fights are enormous in dynamics.

Here I can also chat a little out of the sewing box: I deal with the modding of Bloodborne myself and have been able to spend many hours with a 60-FPS gameplay. The feeling of the game is a completely different, the action on the screen looks far more lively. For reasonably stable 60 frames per second, however, the native resolution must be reduced to 720p, from which the visual quality suffers massively.

By contrast, ElanalistaBits shows how Bloodborne in 4K would look at 60 fps. The channel probably falls back on intermediate images, which were also generated by AI, which is only noticeable due to the flickering screen texts:

On the PS5, Bloodborne should easily be running in a higher resolution and 60 frames per second. In particular, the complex level architecture and the physics-based clothing and fur animations should not have any problems with the processor of the current PlayStation generation.

please Sony, give me a remaster!

There are no other PS4 game or the associated PS5 upgrade as many legends and myths as about Bloodborne and I'm just annoyed. Sometimes a remaster has been in development for a long time, according to some statements even in parallel to a successor from Bluepoint, sometimes the title has been done for months or has not existed at all.

I no longer know what to believe, hope for every State of Play or a show case that a remaster will be announced.

At best, it looks the way the video of Elanalist Stagebits presents: razor-sharp in 4K, without edge flickering and with significantly more color brilliance.

From my own experience, I also see a frame rate of 60 frames per second as an absolute must. It is hard to believe how great characters and beasts in the game are actually animated until you have seen it yourself! Do you also want a remaster like in the video?
